What is Love? Here are 5 More Twice Songs That Should be Trending Next

Are you infected with the "What is Love?" fever? Just last week, Twice's 3-year-old hit "What is Love?" took the world by storm (again) as it broke the internet, most especially Tiktok, with over 300 thousand dance covers of its catchy chorus and cute dance steps.

It all started with a cute couple who danced the song chorus on their wedding day, then followed by a huge wave of netizens, posting their covers as well. It was further made more viral by the og artists, Twice themselves, who recreated iconic parts of their music video in Tiktok as well.

As a Once (Twice's official fandom), I'm no stranger to Twice having songs that are bops and bangers. They are totally dance-able because of the quite easy to follow choreography and easy to memorize melody and lyrics. Most of their early hits were cute songs about love, so its something that's truly relatable even when you're single.

If you're not a fan just yet, here are great starters if you wanna know about Twice more. And if you're already a fan like me, you'd truly agree that these Twice songs should be trending next:

1. Likey

This song was released by Twice in October 2017 as the lead single of their first full album "Twicetagram". In the surface, the song seems only about getting the attention of someone you love through social media, but when you watch the music video, the underlying meaning is about a social commentary on the difference and similarities of  social media from real life.

 2. Feel Special

Who could ever forget Twice's sparkly era? This song is indeed special because it is an uplifting song that celebrates the feeling of being there for someone. It mainly reflects that even a little encouragement could go a long way for someone who feels down or depressed. Believe me or not, it has been one of the songs that made me navigate the challenges that I have been facing in life.

3. Cheer Up

Released in April 2016, Cheer Up is one of the first few songs that made Twice earn the moniker "Nation's Girl Group" in South Korea. The song was so popular which skyrocketed Twice into fame. Unlike any other love songs that immediately profess love, Cheer Up is a dance track that tackles the art of 'Mildang', or the concept of push and pull; beating around the bush instead of telling someone they're in love with them directly.

In a guy's perspective, the music video views the girl as someone unreachable but deep inside, they are still fun and quirky. On the other hand, the lyrics also tells a woman to be comfortable with who they are and that they can still find love, no matter how a judgmental society negatively perceives them to be.

The music video shows the Twice members appearing as leading ladies in films that have been well-received by the South Korean audience.

4. Signal

This bubblegum pop track is another push-and-pull concept with an "out of this world" music video, and a chorus dance step that shouldn't be missed.

When you watch the music video, it is about paying attention to the romantic signals that a person is showing, so you could realize that no matter how much you think they're different, in the end, you're still a perfect match.

5. Alcohol-Free

Just when you thought Twice could never surprise us anymore, this June 2021, they released a song called "Alcohol-Free", which was said to be a follow-up to the currently viral song "What is Love?". Alcohol-Free is a Bossa Nova track that is matched with a flow-y choreo and a vibrant Summer music video.

Although filled with references about alcoholic beverages, the song is about not needing to consume alcohol to feel inebriated, with a love that's just like a spell,  that has an enchanting effect.

Twice's discography is truly top-tier and you will notice the way they mature as a group as the years progress. I could go on about more bops in their discography and this is just the tip of the iceberg. If you wanna know more about Twice, you may visit their Youtube channel or follow their social media accounts. All their songs are available in many music platforms as well.
